The Importance of Global Food Security

By Naisha Rastogi

Working towards global food security is of utmost importance. This is because it directly impacts the lives of 870 million people worldwide the 870 people are those who lack access to an adequate and safe food supply. Looking beyond hunger, global food security is essential for sustainable economic growth in affected nations and the long-term prosperity worldwide.

Lack of food security can lead to various health issues like malnutrition, stunted growth. These health issues are most likely going to be found in children and vulnerable populations. Food security is about ensuring access to nutritious food. Reaching food security needs sustainable agricultural practices and responsible management of natural resources. When this starts happening it will positively effect the environment since the environment will be rid of the bad agricultural practices that harmed it.

Ensuring global food security is not only for no hunger but it is also a prerequisite for a prosperous and sustainable world. By starting sustainable agriculture, addressing climate change, reducing food waste, and promoting equitable trade, we can work towards a future where there is Food Security everywhere. I urge all of us to come together to create a resilient and a food-secure future for all of us and the generation to come.
